PDFKit Terms of Use & Support

Effective October 12, 2026. Updated October 13, 2026. Version 2026-10-13-v5.

1. Scope and provider

PDFKit is provided by Xu Rui (徐瑞), an individual developer. Contact xuruiprod@gmail.com for support. These terms apply to the current conversion features of the app, its PDF and image Action extensions, and its PDF Share extension, and provide purchase and usage support information.

This page provides terms of use and support information for PDFKit. Data practices are explained in the separate PDFKit Privacy Policy. Applicable App Store purchase rules and Apple software license terms also apply. These terms do not reduce rights granted by those rules or by law.

2. Features and limits

The app provides format conversion, not OCR, scanning, PDF content editing, animation conversion, or cloud document storage. Inputs must be valid supported files and are subject to available storage, file size, device resources, and format limits. There is no promise of unlimited input, successful conversion of every file, or full compatibility with every third-party application. A protected PDF requires a correct password that you are entitled to obtain and provide; the app does not bypass access restrictions.

3. File rights and lawful use

You retain your rights in input files and content you create. Using the app does not transfer those rights to the developer. Make sure you have the right to access, copy, convert, watermark, and share the content with your chosen recipients, and obtain any authorization required for information about other people.

Providing a file through a picker or share menu authorizes the app to perform the local operations necessary for the processing you request. It does not authorize the developer to obtain, publish, or remotely use that file. Do not use the tool to infringe rights, unlawfully disclose personal information, distribute unlawful content, or bypass access controls. Conversion or adding a watermark does not automatically give you new copyright or establish a file's provenance, authenticity, or legal effect.

4. Purchase, price, and refunds

The current version is a one-time paid App Store download, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or advertising. The price, currency, and taxes shown on your storefront's purchase page apply. Your download provides the features included in the current version. There is no promise that all future products or new services will be free, and there is no undisclosed automatic renewal.

Apple's applicable processes govern purchase records, redownloads, and refunds. You can request or check a refund through Apple Report a Problem. Apple determines the outcome under its rules and applicable law; the developer can assist with usage issues. This section does not exclude or restrict any statutory right to a refund, repair, replacement, compensation, or other consumer remedy.

5. Checking output, saving, and working files

The app creates local working copies and outputs without modifying originals. Before closing a task, check that export succeeded and review the file name, page count, order, and image quality. Keep the copies you need in your chosen destination. Layout, resolution, color, metadata, and file size may differ from the original. For important uses, check the output and retain originals and appropriate backups.

Working files are not long-term storage. PDF-to-image export files are cleaned up after receivers finish reading them. A generated PDF is normally reused on the result screen and cleaned up when the task ends or scheduled after ten minutes of inactivity; another export may require regeneration. The approximately 512 MiB shared payload quota, queued-file expiration, and storage pressure may trigger reclamation. You may cancel processing or end a task. Active reads, suspension, or cleanup failures may delay cleanup, with later retries.

Copies saved to Photos, Files, or another app are managed by that destination. Working-file cleanup does not delete those external copies. Your responsibility to check and back up files does not remove the developer's liability for product defects, damage for which liability is imposed by law, or other non-excludable liability.

6. Permissions and third-party systems

Image selection uses the system photo picker. Saving converted images requests Photos add permission. If you deny permission, system sharing remains an alternative. Selecting files from iCloud or similar sources may cause the system to download them. Sharing recipients, cloud storage, Photos synchronization, email, and purchase services may use the network and follow their own terms. Check your chosen recipient; on-device conversion does not mean every system service stays offline.

See the Privacy Policy for the app's data practices, temporary-file rules, and support email processing. The developer does not control independent third-party services and remains responsible for the notice, support, and product obligations imposed on the developer by law.

7. Updates, changes, and discontinuation

The developer may provide compatibility, security, or feature updates. Supported systems and devices are described in the store listing and release information. Material changes affecting prices, existing purchase entitlements, or data practices will be disclosed and any legally required consent obtained. A unilateral update does not retrospectively remove accrued consumer rights.

If required by law or if continued distribution, updates, or support must be discontinued, the developer will provide information where reasonably practicable and legally required, and address purchased rights and unresolved matters under applicable law. App Store redownloads and third-party service availability are managed by their providers. Discontinuation is not a basis for arbitrarily revoking lawful use rights or refusing statutory remedies.

8. Liability and consumer protection

The developer is responsible for the product and service as required by applicable law. Where the law permits, responsibility for problems directly caused by unsupported or damaged input, unauthorized use, independent third-party acts, or failure to follow clear instructions is assessed according to actual causation and each party's fault. There is no promise that every input succeeds or that service will never be interrupted.

These terms do not exclude liability for the developer's intentional misconduct or gross negligence, personal injury, or any other liability that applicable law prohibits excluding or limiting. “As is” language, third-party services, or your backup responsibilities do not override mandatory quality guarantees, consumer protections, or statutory compensation. Any limitation permitted by law operates only within that law's limits.

9. Governing law and disputes

Subject to applicable mandatory law and consumer protection rules, these terms are governed by the laws of mainland China. Mandatory consumer protections available under the law of your habitual residence or place of purchase are not excluded.

You may first contact support to resolve a dispute. If it remains unresolved, you may seek relief from a court or authority with lawful jurisdiction. This section does not require you to waive jurisdiction, complaint, or other remedy rights provided by law, and imposes no compulsory arbitration without a separate valid agreement. If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, other lawfully enforceable provisions remain effective; this does not expand an exclusion of the developer's liability.

10. Help and contact

PDF to images: choose a file, select pages and quality, convert, optionally add a watermark, then save to Photos or share. Images to PDF: select images, arrange them and choose paper, generate, rename, then save to Files or share. A hidden system action can be enabled through Edit Actions in the share sheet.

If saving to Photos fails, check the app's Photos add permission in iOS Settings and available storage. Try system sharing, fewer pages or images, or standard quality. Replace damaged or unsupported inputs. A PDF may need preparation again after task completion, idle cleanup, or a change to output settings.

Email xuruiprod@gmail.com with the subject “PDFKit Support.” Include your iPhone model, iOS and app versions, conversion direction, and steps to reproduce the issue. Redacted screenshots are optional. Do not send passwords, payment details, or unrelated personal files. No fixed support response time is guaranteed.
